Macuco safari and boat trip
click to enlargeThe Safari starts with a drive of 3 km along a forest trail in a four-wheel drive vehicle. Several stops are made for bilingual guides to provide information about the flora and fauna of the park. At the 3 km point, an optional 600 meter walking trail leads to a small waterfall called Salto do Macuco. From there, the trail continues to the banks of the Iguassu River, where an upstream zodiac boat tour to Devil´s Throat begins. The exhilarating rafting expedition is made in a large, sturdy, double engine rubber launch and affords the visitor a unique and breathtakingly beautiful view of the Falls. People get wet in this tour.

Banana Tree Trail (Trilha das Bananeiras)
click to enlargeThis is a four-mile round-trip hike through the subtropical rain forest to the banks of the Iguassu River. Along the trail you can observe the exuberant flora, birds and animal tracks, and if you are really lucky some of the fauna. This excursion also includes a boat ride on the part of the Upper Iguassu River that surrounds the islands. One can also take a kayak descending the river around the islands. There is also a Jeep to help on the last part.
Location: Iguassu National Park, Brazil
Approximate time: 3 hours
Travel distance: inside the Park on the way to Iguassu Falls

Poco Preto Trail (Black Well Trail)
click to enlargeThis tour is in the Iguassu National Park, Brazil. On the first part of the trail one can chose to hike or bike for about 9 km through the jungle. The objective is to appreciate the flora and fauna of the area. This excursion also includes a boat ride on the part of the Upper Iguassu River that surrounds the islands where you may see caymans and topical birds. On the last part of the tour one can chose to take the boat or kayak descending a bit the river as did the explorer Alvar Nunes Cabeza de Vaca (Cows Head).

We remind that the tour guides included in this tour have a basic knowledge in fauna and flora. Depends of the day the chances to see animals are remote but plenty of birds.

Approximate time: 4 hours

Floating Iguassu
click to enlargeThe trip consists of a two-km guided walking tour through the subtropical rain forest followed by a floating tour on the upper Iguassu River (above the falls). There are many islands on the way and one can spot birds, caimans and also swim in the river, always depending on the water level. Normally this part the Iguassu River is shallow. Inflatable boats for 12 people are used for this adventure.
Approximate time: 2 hours

People that really like adrenaline rushes must try the tours below. All the equipment is provided.
